En Esta Tarde Gris (In this gray afternoon)

"En esta tarde gris", was written by Jose Maria Contursi in 1942 for Gricel Viganó, a young lady from Capilla del Señor, a small country town in Córdoba whom he met when visited Córdoba's mountains to care for his poor health. They have difficult relationship as they lived in different cities and both were married.

While lyric alludes to this encounter, departure and passionate remembrance. "I madly looked for you", "I was never able to meet you again..." was sad and tragic story. However, life did not imitate art as Contursi and Gricel Viganó's affair had a happy ending.

They met again and got married in 1967, 25 years after the original lyric was written. The composer of this tango is Mariano Mores, one the greatest in tango history.
